Basketball Time

cover of SI-NBA baksetball preview issue

Last night Micia and I went to the home opener of the Jazz. It's hard to believe that basketball season is starting again already. I had so much fun going to the playoff games this spring that I decided to buy some tickets to a few regular season games this year. I bought a mini package of 6 games, and last night was the first one. I think its going to be fun. I've decided that I just enjoy being a fan-basketball, baseball & football- I like them all. I do have my teams that I always want to win-my favorites, but I love being at the stadium/arena and being a part of the crowd cheering the team on. It's just a good time and fun. I think I've become a bit of a sports junkie! My brothers would be proud, they taught me well.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Last Sunday the whole family was together for dinner and it was great to see everyone. Cara had brought cookie cutters and sprinkles to make cookies for the kids to decorate. But as the evening wore on and it was getting later, we ended up making cupcakes instead. I love these kids--they know how to enjoy a good cupcake and some frosting!! Tyler downed 2 cupcakes in no time flat. He's a kid after my own heart--he has a hard time passing up chocolate too! Zach, Maddie, & Emma enjoyed theirs as well as you can tell from the pictures.

New shoes at work

Just something I found humorous at work today. I was wearing a new pair of shoes (see picture, I love em!). As I walked by one of our receptionists she threw me a compliment on looking really cute today and that she liked my shoes and my ankle bracelets! I looked down at my shoes then looked back at her and said, oh those are actually part of the shoes. I thought it was funny--me an my 2 leather ankle bracelets! If you want to borrow them, let me know!

Pumpkin Carving

Last night Micia, Ally and I carved our Halloween pumpkins! It is one of my favorite parts of the Halloween season. We had so much fun I didn't realize until we had finished how many we had carved in 2 1/2 hours of work. Micia--our resident Cowboy's fan-had 6 patterns that she wanted to carve into pumpkins that were all Dallas Cowboy's related.

I carved a Micky Mouse, a BYU block "Y", the Jazz & helped Micia with one of hers. Ally carved a killer New York Yankee symbol and helped with some of Micia's (she was a little late getting started as she attended ward FHE first, what a good girl she is). It was fun to sit around and talk and get caught up-especially on Ally's weekend trip and happenings. I loved when we lit all the candles and turned out the lights. They always look so much better when you do that. It was then that we realized that we had carved no traditional pumpkins! Not 1 jack-o-lantern face in the bunch!

Hanging Out

Right now I'm hanging out in Park City, just relaxing. Mom has a conference up here all week and she is part of the registration committee so she is getting things put together. I on the other hand am currently laying on the bed, watching tv and playing on the computer, and loving it! I am not staying all week but came up for the night and will probably come back up one night this week. This weekend went by so fast. Friday I had to work until 7 and then I went to the mall. Micia & I shopped for a little while then went to dinner at Brick Oven. It was fun to hang out with her and catch up. I know that we live at the same place, but seriously---We never see each other. We just are never home very much and are both busy with work, school and life in general. It was some much needed friend time! Saturday I got to work all day--I mean all day. 8:30 -5. So I treated myself to some new jeans from the Buckle later that night--I thought after a day's work on Saturday I deserved it(at least that made me feel better about it!). But I do love a good shopping trip!

Guess its back to work tomorrow!

Tag-Memories

Got this one from Andrea.

I think its pretty fun. I can't wait to see what memories people will have of me.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you!

Football--again

Mom and I ended up at the BYU game this past weekend. Jason & Cara were originally going to use the tickets, but the weather turned colder and they were blessing Nathan the next day, so I think they had a lot going on--so Mom and I went in their place. We packed up a bunch of gear, preparing for the snow storm the weather man promised, but it never came ( at least not during the game). Thankfully, we didn't end up needing half the stuff we took with us! The game was fun, even thought I spent a few minutes worried about the cute lady sitting next to me. When we arrived she was already there and I chatted with her for a few minutes. Later in the game I looked over and she was kind of slumped over in her seat ( I have later wished I had taken a picture to show when telling this, but didn't). I hit mom and said, I'm a little worried, do you think she is praying for a touchdown, sleeping(I don't know how that would be possible) or did she have a stroke or something. Mom and I kind of looked at each other, like we should do something, but thankfully she perked up a few minutes later! It was kind of weird, I'm not going to lie. It probably sounds kind of weird as I'm now replaying it, so maybe you had to be there, but if you had been you would have been concerned too! Anyway, BYU won the game which was good, the weather wasn't as bad as anticipated and we went to Cafe Rio in celebration afterwards--all in all not too shabby. Sunday I went to Nathan's baby blessing, it was really nice and I hung out with the family.

America's Next Top Model

Andrea this one is for you. Some pictures of my new hair, right after I had it cut, and a few days later when I decided one night at 10:00 p.m. that it needed to be blonder and no roots. The projects I decide to start late at night! But it turned out good I really like it-and the cut has been great. I know its fall and I usually turn to brown hair colors in the fall, but right now I'm loving it just like this!

Sunday Afternoon

Todd, Jason, Zach, Tyler, Emma, Justin, Nicole, and Ashton ( I don't know where Maddie was)were all playing outside after conference. They were having a great game of football. My brothers-and brother-in-law, are all great dads. Everyone was having a great time!

I just love it when Conference weekend rolls around, and this weekend was no different. I have to admit that this afternoon's session was a little hard to listen to--everyone was at my parents house and the kids don't totally get the whole sit and listen. They just want to play. But I was blessed to not have to work on Saturday afternoon and most of Saturday morning so I was able to watch both sessions-what a blessing! There were so many amazing things that I needed to hear right now in pretty much every talk that was given. The gospel is amazing! It gave me some much needed reminders of what is important in life, and things I need to keep working on.

It is also great to hang out with the family and enjoy spending time together!

Rainy Day

My backyard needed some help! The weeds had gotten out of control. Mom and I had made plans to listen to conference while cleaning it up. However, Saturday was full of rain, but we decided to power through and clean up what we could. Nikki and Ashton came over to help as well. So there we all were in our rain gear, gathering up weeds. Ashton was so cute and just wandered around with his shovel trying to help with the weeds. He found the play toys through the back fence and went running for the slide. He had a fabulous time--mom even went down the slide with him, she's a good grandma. He didn't want to leave!

Thanks so much for the help, it was much appreciated!

Friday Night Lights

The Cougars were playing at Utah State this weekend. Since Logan is only 2 hours away, Mom and Ally and I decided to make the trip to support the Cougars on their road trip. The drive up to Logan was nice--the canyon was beautiful and we made it to the game no problem. We had lots of fun! The Cougs played pretty well in the first half but the second half was an entirely different story. The Cougars didn't play that well and USU ended up scoring 2 touchdowns, breaking the defenses' about 11 quarters of not letting their opponents score. The 4th quarter was ridiculous with penalties and the Cougars not playing their best. My favorite was when Quarterback Max Hall did a quarterback sneak for a 1st down and then was called for a personal foul- unnecessary roughness! How often does that happen to the quarterback-almost never if that gives you any idea how bad things were going. At that point most of the Cougar fans were on their feet clapping and cheering for Max--what else could you do at that point. The Cougars came away with a win thank goodness and are still ranked in the top 10. Here's to hoping they got the bad game out of the way and the buy week over and next weeks' game against New Mexico at home will be back to the way we we like it! I think I have officially become a BYU football junkie this year!

And yes, I cut my hair, what do you think? I love it!
